Anglers and boaters are America’s original environmentalists.
Through license fees and excise taxes paid, we are the largest contributor to state fish and wildlife management. That’s why we are deeply concerned with AB3030. It’s a misleading, purposefully ambiguous bill that sets the stage for unreasonable restrictions on recreational fishing—a pastime beloved by Californians who spend approximately $2.4 billion on fishing outings each year.
We oppose AB3030 in its current, incomplete form. Instead, we ask that the authors accept amendments put forth by Coastal Conservation Association California and the American Sportfishing Association and follow the lead of President Obama, who recognized recreational fishing as a sustainable use in marine national monuments.
