REC Act – Outdoor Recreation Jobs and Economic Impact Act of 2016
Imagine an industry that supports 6.1 million jobs and generates over $646 Billion dollars annually. One that creates more jobs and revenue than the pharmaceutical and automotive industry combined. Can you imagine the prestige and clout such a group would have in Washington, DC and in state houses around the country?
Who are we talking about? It’s us – the Outdoor Recreation Industry – America’s anglers, hunters, campers, hikers, boaters, and outdoorspeople.
But in spite of all that money and all those jobs, government analysts have never tracked the economic impact of outdoor recreation. Can you believe that one of the biggest sectors of the U.S. economy has basically been ignored?
The good news is, all that could change now that President Obama signed the REC Act.
