Stop Federal Mismanagement in the South Atlantic
The agencies that manage the South Atlantic fisheries are considering bringing the same strategies that failed in the Gulf of Mexico to the East Coast.
They are considering management practices such as “limited entry” which works pretty much the way it sounds – only a select few charter boats would get access to these fisheries on the Atlantic coast – and was the precursor to sector separation in the Gulf. Snapper, grouper, dolphin, wahoo, king mackerel, and more would be affected by these management strategies.
Don’t let the South Atlantic follow the same ill-advised path as the Gulf of Mexico.
